I believe my sister in law spotted this one at Burnaby Lake. The lighting quality isn't the best. I was just getting use to using my camera at this point as well. It was up in that tree with quite a few crows surrounding it.
I spotted this one at Island View Beach Park. This one just sat on that piece of driftwood for ages. Probably waitng for the Eagle to bring back a snack from the Ocean.
Thanks to Tania from work for helping me classify this one. I had no idea what it was and struggled to figure it out for quite some time. Spotted it in Vic West. Very neat color pattern.
I took these shots at Swan Lake. Spotted this trio up in a tree near the bluff. Cool looking bird. I had first thought they were Cardinals but later realized I was evidently wrong.
I took these shots at Clover Point. Thanks to the older gentleman who mentioned to me that this is where I would find these birds. I had no idea what they looked like until doing my research online. I sure wasnt dissapointed when I showed up and got these shots. Very cool patterns and colors. Always nice to take a trip down to Dallas Rd. and walk along the beach. You never know what you will look out to see.
I took these shots at Swan Lake as well. These shots are horribly blurred but I have struggled to get a good shot of this bird so these will have to suffice for now. Lightning quick and very cool color pattern.
I took these shots at Swan Lake. These guys are hard to follow when your snapping shots. I was lucky to make off with these pictures and they arent the best in lighting quality. That said, I was still happy with the way they turned out. These little fellas are the smallest of the Woodpecker family.
Took these shots at Swan Lake while out on a nature hike. Ive seen quite a few of these in my lifetime. Certainly a bird with a presence in North America. Quick to say the least.
Clearly I am a big fan of Bald Eagles. That said, I hope you enjoy these shots. I took them at Island View Beach Park on Vancouver Island. It kept flying out over the ocean looking for some easy prey and then would return to this specific tree.
These photos were taken at Swan Lake. These birds are weirdos but cool. They can swim under water like you could never imagine. They are an interesting bird to observe no doubt.
I spotted this one near the Uptown Shopping Centre on my way back from Swan Lake. Not so camera friendly surprisingly. I got one shot of it on the hydro pole and then it took off feeling the need to harvest power from a more reliable source.
I took these photos at Swan Lake. Caught this one taking a break from flying the skies. Pretty cool looking bird. The back of the head reminds me of a Cardinal or a Blue Jay.
Took these shots at Swan Lake. Just happened to catch this one patrolling the skies and it flew over top of me before landing on the other side of the lake. These birds are huge and awesome.
The two photos taken of the one on the hydro pole were taken in East Vancouver. The photo of the one up in the tree was taken in a top secret classified spot located in Victoria. The one on the hydro pole found some food that must have been electric because it was pecking like there was no tomorrow. The one in the tree took a page from my good friend the Robin.
