American Robin

Robin

I took this photo while walking along the Galloping Goose trail located in Victoria. These birds are very common and you don't have to look to far to find one. This bird sat on that branch for god knows how long, I didn't wait to find out. I like this photo because the bird is looking up at the sky. Sky is the limit.

Red Winged Blackbird

Well the only thing interesting about this black bird is strictly the fact it has red wings. I'm not a fan of black birds personally, I think they are annoying and butt ugly.  This photo was taken on a nature walk at Burnaby Lake.

You guessed it. These shots were also taken along the gorge waterway located in Victoria. It seems to be home to quite a few species of birds. They swim quite often in this area. Most easily visible from the Galloping Goose walking/cycling bridge that crosses over the Gorge.

No coincidence. I took this shot along the Gorge waterway located in Victoria. These birds have oddly shaped heads! They swam away peacefully. Cool looking duo.

I didn't have to walk far to find these goofy looking birds. They were swimming in the Gorge waterway located in Victoria. Very calm and gentle... and goofy looking.

Green-winged Teal

Green-winged Teal

This bird was actually swimming along side the Wood Duck that I posted prior to this photo. I found the color of the head to be rather interesting compared to the grey, black, and white of the body. A very beautiful bird to say the least. Very gentle and calm.

I took these shots at Burnaby Lake while out on a nature walk. I was totally blown away by the colors of these birds. It was like watching a painting swim by me. Glad I got a chance to run in to this couple.

I spotted these two along the inner harbour in Victoria. They appeared to be combing the shores looking for a bite to eat. I was drawn in by the bright orange beaks. Just a day at the beach.

I spotted this bird while out on a nature walk with my bro and sis in law at Burnaby Lake. It was perched in that tree for sometime and remained there even as we left. My best guess is that it was taking an afternoon nap! Truly a beautiful bird, the colors and feathers say it all with this one.

Hummingbirds Everywhere!

I was on my way to work travelling along the Galloping Goose trail in Victoria when I snapped these photo's. They are such small birds and move so quick. I had a great walk to work to say the least. In total, I probably spotted about a dozen.

Black-chinned Hummingbird

This little bugger was lucky I have eagle eyes other wise it simply would'nt have gotten its photo taken. I was on my way to work walking along the Galloping Goose Trail in Victoria when it caught my eye. The Green color and white around the eye made me really appreciate this bird. Small, super duper fast, and last but not least brilliant. It perched itself on that branch for a short period of time and then took off like a lightning bolt.

I spotted this beautiful creature across the street from my bro and sis in laws place in East Vancouver. The bird perched itself on top of that tree for some time allowing me to snap quite a few shots. It didn't end up doing a whole lot besides searching the skies for its next adventure. Getting a chance to see it take off was pretty neat. The wings say it all.

And so it begins...

Hello! My name is Nick. I would like to share the experiences I have had while taking photo's of Birds and Nature with YOU. The way I plan on doing that is by uploading photo's that I take on a somewhat regular basis and writing a little blurb on the name of the species and behavior witnessed. I hope you enjoy what this blog has to offer and last but not least, PLEASE... check out my bird!
